Five Golden Rings

the praises of our King
tables crowded with love
a cat that never forgets she was a Christmas kitten
the untarnished magic of gingerbread and powdered sugar
a White Christmas in Dixie (!!!)

It’s been a lovely one, and we’re still keeping it, fondly and heartily. I just wanted to pop in here to wish all of you a very Merry 5th Day of Christmas!

Note: Lanier’s Books will be closed for Christmas holidays from December 21st, 2010 through January 6th, 2011. Any orders received during this time will be processed after the holidays. Thank you! :)

  1. Lanier, what beautiful photos. The third and the fifth are especially charming to me. Literally breathtaking. In spite of reading an occasional historical romance, I am not in the habit of gasping as the heroines so often do. 🙂 These made me gasp. So moving. Lovely.

  2. (I don’t think this went through the first time. Perhaps it’s too large. I’m sending it again in two parts. Please delete if it’s a duplicate.)

Discovered during last night’s wakeful middle-of-the-night reading in
    Just CrossStitch 2002 Christmas Ornaments:

    Amidst The Poinsettias
    Pamela Kellogg
    Kitty & Me Country Crafts

I have a blue enamelware coffeepot on my kitchen table that I fill with silk flowers and change to coordinate with the seasons. For Christmas 2002, I bought some cranberry-colored velvet-like poinsettias, along with some artificial pine boughs and some sparkly snow-covered branches. These filled my coffeepot to overflowing!

It was a few days before Christmas, and I had gone into the kitchen to start making dinner. I thought that all four of my kitties were sleeping on the bed. I began the preparation of our evening meal and suddenly had the strange feeling that I was being watched. I looked around and didn’t see any kitties nearby, so I went back to work. Again, the feeling of two little eyes watching my every move came over me. Suddenly, I heard a rustling.

  3. (continued, Part II)

I walked over to the table, still not seeing any kitties. Low and behold, there was my Lucy, lying behind the coffeepot and peeking out at me between the branches and the poinsettias!

Yes, I’m quite amused by my cats and their antics! My ornament this year, Amidst The Poinsettias, is based on that Christmas memory.

(My note: The finished design may be seen online at Amidst The Poinsettias.

  4. The image of your table setting, has me in the mood to re-set my table, and whip up another Christmas dinner. I just may do that for “Twelfth night”.
