Dear Ones,

Just popping in to say that I’ve finally completed and dispatched the first installment in what I hope will be a weekly newsletter chronicling our restoration story. I’m still overwhelmed by your response to my query, and I sincerely hope I didn’t miss anyone who asked to be included.

Please do not hesitate to let me know if you wanted to receive the newsletter and didn’t–or if you received it and would prefer to be removed from the list. In an era of unrelenting information and overflowing inboxes, it’s my wish to cultivate a bright little candle of “all things new” against the dark of an increasingly homesick world. I pray that this small story of loss and renewal would image the larger story of redemptive purpose ever at work in our world, and that “the God of hope [would] fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Under the Mercy,

  1. I would love to receive your newsletter. I’ve always, since I started reading your blog at the age of sixteen, craved more details about your beautiful home and domestic arrangements 🙂

  2. Dear Lanier:
I simply cannot remember if I already asked to be included in your mailing list, but in case I did not, please do add me.
    Thank you for this treat!

  3. I would love to be included! I have so enjoyed your writing and Hutchmoot-speaking and beauty-making over the past several years. Very blessed by your willingness to share!

  4. Yes, please, Lanier, I would love to receive your newsletter too.
May God continue to bless you; thank you for being such a blessing,

  5. Please add me onto the list, also. I look forward to reading about your “pilgrimage in place.” Christie

  6. Yes, please add me. Lovely thoughts. I’m always interested in hearing stories about how people make a house their home.

  7. Please add me to your list! I am praying for God’s blessings to pour out upon you in abundance this year. Thank you for sharing your heart and home with the world.

  8. Please add me to your mailing list. In reading your blog, I have found that we share some of the same experiences and I have been comforted by reading how you have dealt with your situations. Your faith and attitude are a testimony to me!

  9. I would very much like to receive your newsletter. In this weary world, I appreciate your words retelling the ancient story of restoration and hope as it plays out in your particular story.

  10. Please include me in your newsletter updates. I always enjoy, not only your insights, but also the turn of phrase with which you express them.

  11. Lanier,
I can’t temember if I have already asked but if not, please include me. I am so interested —and excited— to see your progress!

  12. I would very much like to receive your newsletters. They inspire and encourage. The most exciting piece for me is that you always find the beauty in the broken. This is my life’s desire. Be blessed and stay under the mercy.

  13. Dear Lanier,
I have read and loved your blog since I was a homesick 17-year-old away at University many miles from home. 10 years on I am preparing for my wedding and my glory box is full of treasures waiting to fill a big old 1930s house that needs a bit of love to make it into a home. You and Philip are an inspiration. Please include me in your mailing list and I will, as ever, relish every single word!

  14. I would like to follow your journey of restoration. I first read of you and your lovely home in one of my Southern Living Christmas books. You had the same Southern Belle painting in your dining room that was in my home in Birmingham. I now have it here in my home in Buford. Many blessings.

  15. I’d love to receive the newsletter. I requested it once so hopefully this time will work! I love reading about the progress on your home.

  16. Here in North Devon, England, I love reading your web page, and as an English teacher, appreciate so much your comments on English Literature. I would very much like to receive your newsletter, please God bless and best wishes from across the pond!

  17. After listening to your presentation about Rivendale and Hospitality at Anselm Society, via SoundCloud, I am smitten.
I would love to read your newsletter. Thank you so much.
